Contractors Unite for Animal Rescue Relief is a not-for-profit organization that was inspired by a trip I took to Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden, a bird sanctuary in Key West, Florida. This shelter was hit by a hurricane in 2017, and six weeks after the storm Nancy was still unable to get anyone to even look at the damage and provide an estimate. I knew I needed to help.

I traveled 1,750 miles for a two-week stay at the bird sanctuary. Using my 25 years experience as a building/contractor, I repaired porches, flooring, cages, replaced cabinets and much more. The shelter staff was very appreciative.

Contractors Unite for Animal Rescue Relief, established February 2018, coordinates efforts to assist shelters, rescues and sanctuaries whose facilities were damaged by natural disasters or have simply fallen behind on upkeep due to financial issues. These people are putting their hearts and souls into saving animals, and sometimes a little extra help is all they need to keep going.

I envision a day that we can send tradesmen and financial assistance to multiple rescues at once, assisting them in their efforts to save animals, and, of course, hope for a day when all animals will have homes and the shelters will no longer be needed.
